One topic of debate is whether to tell employers or co-workers that you live in a van.  Reactions can vary from curiosity to hostility to jealousy at your freedom.  The reactions of co-workers have more to do with their own relation to work than to your living situation.  One topic of debate is whether to tell employers or co-workers that you live in a van.  Reactions can vary from curiosity to hostility to jealousy at your freedom.  The reactions of co-workers have more to do with their own relation to work than to your living situation.

//Digital nomads// are folks who "work from home". With the advent of Covid, even more tech-type jobs have become remote and can theoretically be done from anywhere. For the most part these are career-type jobs that will require a good deal of experience before you can go fully remote, and if you have already gotten to that level in your career you likely don't need to read this wiki about how to get a remote job. //Digital nomads// are folks who "work from home". -===== seasonal work =====+===== Seasonal work =====

+Many highly seasonal industries require small armies of people doing jobs that have a low barrier to entry, especially in hospitality. Many hotels that are in or around National Parks in the Western states will hire staff for housekeeping, front desk, kitchen and retail positions for 3-4 months of the year, and many will even provide basic housing if needed.

+Ski Resorts are another frequent location that needs a lot of temporary works and doesn't have a lot of preexisting requirements.  They'll need a lot of staff for the ski season and will often provide accommodation, giving the nomad a chance to settle down for a few months and earn some money before bouncing onto their next adventure.
