Plates and utensils

plates

Normal residential pottery or ceramic plates are impractical for 'dwellers because of their weight and fragility

  • disposable plates - no clean-up, but generates waste and costs more.
    • paper - takes less space, can be burned in campfire
    • foam - bulky, must be thrown away
  • reusable plates
    • plastic camping plates - somewhat insulative. Will not damage knife edges.
    • metal camping plates - generally stainless steel. Can be submerged in boiling water or warmed directly on heat source. May be rattly when traveling.
  • no plates - eating directly out of the cookpot
